It is a fairly simple section that will simply show the games installed on our system, which we can briefly configure in a few options. These profiles that we create can be exported with the drop-down menu in the lower area and thus all our peripherals and hardware will be synchronized. Here we have all the effects available within the possibilities that ASUS offers by default, where each of them can be customized and we can even opt for AURA CREATOR if we don’t have enough, a complementary and independent software to ARMORY CRATE that what will allow us is create incredible effects with all ASUS products, totally to our liking, it is worth a try, although it will take a while to understand how it works. The AURA effects tab is also very interesting to deal with. For example, we prefer that AURA Terminal do the ambilight lighting effect in games and that is why it is not synchronized with the rest of the lighting on the PC and peripherals. Returning to the corresponding tab, device synchronization is individually selectable. This has two tabs and a HUE configuration button, which is almost obsolete because the number of peripherals with this technology is negligible today. It is without a doubt the most dominant section within ARMORY CRATE and it achieves it on its own merits, since users want lighting effects everywhere. We also have a macro option that can be extensively configured for use on different peripherals. Here there is not much to say since the only thing we will see is a drop-down menu where we have all the company’s hardware and peripherals in our possession.Įach one of them, when clicked, will have its configuration and performance options, where again, the newer or more complete the peripheral, the more options we will have to choose from since its features are greater. Currently, shortly after your motherboard is new, what that panel will reflect ranges from frequencies, voltages and temperature to wallpaper and lighting options.Īs we say, same screen inside ARMORY CRATE, different motherboards, nothing to see really. This is a rather peculiar panel because it depends exclusively on the hardware you have. Knowing all this and now being a software very up to its rivals and always being in constant evolution, what does it really contribute? Control center The limitations were more for RGB lighting issues than for pure hardware support, so it was decided to set a line and from then on provide said support. Until Asus realizes that people use Windows UAC, I think this is a decent workaround to a dodgy piece of software. The brand has so many peripherals, so much hardware in so many product ranges, whether new or old, that a minimum had to be set for ARMORY CRATE to be supported. This also seems to prevent these apps from running multiple instances (one for each user). Somehow, it makes sense to do these changes since Armour圜rate is installed for the admin user only. Even so, do them at your own risk!Īs ArmourySwAgent is started by one of these tasks (it seems), this should shut down any password asking from these apps. There are slim to none chances to brick your PC by doing these changes. Now do the same for the remaining tasks in the ASUS group! So you might want to select an administrator account (a specific one, not the Administrators group), because in step (5), you may want to configure it to run whether the user is logged in or not. “Bright” minds at Asus configured this to run as Users, which seems to be the cause of the problems. Then, select ASUS group in the Task Scheduler Library (1), select ArmourySocketServer list entry (2), click Properties (3), click Change User or Group (4). Here, a picture of how to do that is self-explanatory:įirst, search in the taskbar for “Task Scheduler”. Tweaking the task a bit will solve the issue. ![]() ![]() (this doesn’t actually seem to work, for me).Īnyway, digging a little bit, it turns out ArmourySocketServer is run as a task in Task Scheduler. However, this might be a breach of security. Locate it (typically it’s in C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ArmouryDevice\dll\ArmourySocketServer), right-click on it, Properties, Security tab, make the changes there. The simplest solution would be to grant this application full controls rights for the Users groups. But, anyway, it’s got it’s uses (despite being a huge ad-driven crap).Īs I’ve installed it as an administrator, when I’ve logged in as a normal user, ArmourySocketServer and then ArmourySwAgent asked for the admin password to run. Apparently, it’s a drag to remove it completely. Built around an Asus ROG Strix B550-F motherboard, upon logging in Windows 10, you will be prompted to install Armoury Crate (actually, you can disable this from the BIOS, if you don’t want it). The upgrade come with tiny issues, like the one in the title. Recently upgraded my computer and yay, Unity WebGL build is much-much faster, 3 times faster now.
